The Fourth IABA Asia-Pacific Conference 2021, 20-23 November 2021
Hosted by The University of Adelaide, in collaboration with The University of
South Australia and Flinders University.
Transnationalism is an increasingly popular phenomenon, reflecting and
responding to the heightened interconnectivity between people and the receding
economic and social significance of boundaries among nation states. The current
global pandemic has brought these issues of interconnectivity sharply into
question. In this context, we were delighted to bring you an array of
papers, panels, keynote lectures, workshops and events centred around the
conference theme of “Life Writing: Transnationalism, Translingualism,
Transculturalism”. This conference explored life narratives across a broad
range of contexts and languages with the aim of expanding the boundaries of
literary studies and its relationships with other media and nations. It
offered engaging, provocative, and timely discussions around the histories and
futures of life writing studies across disciplinary, literary, and global
boundaries.
